Farewell Rocky Bowlers ...

Rocky Bowlers,

Sorry for the delay in our final comments.

I have just returned home and ready to send our farewell and start preparing for next year.

I will remember this year as a very special Rocky Bowl as we went over the 100 bowlers and will donate $600.00 after payouts to the winners and expenses for the Rocky Bowl Party.  The largest donation in our 15 years.

We asked our friends in Nebraska who each year donates our great shirts and Brady suggested we contribute to a children fund, which we will. The Children's Institute located on Mercer Island here in Washington work with children 5-17 who have disabilities in learning and can not attend public schools.  This is a VERY worthwhile organization and one of our new bowlers has been on the board for 30 years.      www.childnow.org     Thank you all for being a part of this contribution.

Congratulations to all of this years winners and near winners for a Rocky Bowl well played.  We look forward to seeing you all next year.

I want to thank my other two commissioners for their help with the web sites, the recruiting of bowlers and always the participation at the RB party, Jim and Doug the Rocky Bowl would be lost without both of your help.

If you participated a little or a lot in the Rocky Bowl we hope it offered enjoyment in watching games you normally would not care about.

We expect a few changes next year as the BCS will have a playoff system.  We will be working on a few changes to the format to accommodate this change for the better.  If you have any suggestions please let us know.

My best to all of you and your families and a prosperous and safe 2014.

Jim, Rocky and Doug

And then there was 1 ...

Hello Rocky Bowlers --

Well, you can't say that the Rocky Bowl hasn't provided you with some exciting college football bowl action this year that you wouldn't otherwise have watched, enjoyed or agonized over.

The Vizio BCS National Championship game should provide more thrilling moments for Rocky Bowlers as all of the top money spots remain in the balance pending the results of tonight's game. Only 3 Rocky Bowlers have money positions locked up: Dick "I'm a Rookie" Watson, Thomas "Flying" Wright and of course Double-A-ron Bowe with his Toilet Bowl.  We know you will be watching on the edge of your couch.  So, while you are enjoying the game, I have an assignment for you.  Read on ...

The New Mexico Bowl kicked off the bowl season and the Washington State Cougars reminded everyone what "Coug'in it" is all about with their late game meltdown.  At the Rocky Bowl party sitting by the fire pit drinking a Rulo Cabernet, Kurt 'Dr. Wino" Schlicker suggested that if "Selfie" can make it into the Webster's dictionary, that "Coug'd it" shouldn't be a problem.  I wonder what he thinks now that his Cardinal pretty much "Shaw'd it" in the Rose Bowl. Perhaps a family of new sports related terms could make it in ...

Coug'd it: A late game meltdown by a team resulting in a loss from a series of self inflicted mistakes.
Shaw'd it: A series of running plays in key game situations that results in no gain and a loss.
Crimson Tide'd it: Give up a Field Goal kick return for a TD to lose on the last play of the game.
Dawg'd it: Achieve your best record in years and have your coach leave for USC.
Duke'd it: Give a big lead in the second half to a team lead by Johnny Football.
Manziel'd it: To win a game in exciting and improbable fashion against a team you should blowout.

Come on Rocky Bowlers, hit the comment link on this post and tell us and the world about the word or phrase you'd like to see added to the Webster's or Rocky Bowl dictionary.  If you don't have one, tell us your favorite or most agonizing moment of your Rocky Bowl experience past or present.  We'd love to hear about it.

You already know my most agonizing moment of this year's Rocky Bowl. And my favorite moment all time of the Rocky Bowl...  Well, you should know that too...

Here's to "Coug'in it" ...  :) The way it's meant to be defined ...

Thanks everyone.  I hope you have enjoyed yourselves.  I wish you the best in the coming year.  Don't forget to be on the lookout for your "TopCoug and Rocky Bowl Friends" March Madness invitation.

The only thing missing is...

... Kate Winslet.

With Alabama, Georgia, Arizona State, and Ohio State all going down... I have nothing to live for.

Forget the “Heart of the Ocean” diamond... I’ll be getting the toilet seat...

Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater: Cameron said Winslet "had the thing that you look for" and that there was "a quality in her face, in her eyes," that he "just knew people would be ready to go the distance with her".[6] Rose is a 17-year-old girl, originally from Philadelphia, who is forced into an engagement to 30-year-old Cal Hockley so she and her mother, Ruth, can maintain their high-class status after her father's death had left the family debt-ridden. Rose boards the RMS Titanic with Cal and Ruth, as a first-class passenger, and meets Jack.

Happy New Year!

The commissioners wish all of the Rocky Bowlers a Happy New Year and that everyone had a safe new years eve.  Now on to the important stuff.

Where the hell are you in the RBS point standings?????  Have you been checking your standing?  Do you know we have over a third of the games left to decide the winners; as well as, to determine the recipient of the toilet bowl.  This is where you pull up your big boy pants or girly skirt and scream at the spouse or the dog.  "I am a ROCKY BOWLER and my picks matter"

Enjoy the remainder of the bowl season and be sure to check out the score sheet as it will be updated right after every game.  At least until the commissioner passes out.

Need Help ... What are the Odds???

Ted "Rocky Bowl Father" Skaarup --

The most bizarre thing has happened in the Rocky Bowl and I must reach out to the smartest person in the group for an answer.  It is a task I can only ask someone who will truly get to the mystifying probability of it ever happening once or again.

If you go to the Master score sheet you will find two entries EXACTLY the same: Payton "Pay Way" Redelsheimer and Jimmy "the Greek" Malevitsis.  We have confirmed by reviewing each entry form (Both sent in several days before the deadline) and have confirmed with each bowler that their entries were correct.

What I would like to know is the odds of this happening, it is not a mistake.  Not only were the games selected the same but the EXACT values placed on each game.  "Pay Way" is a approximately 14 yrs old living in Kansas and the "The Greek" is 60 living in Seattle.  If you have time and the interest ,I would love to hear your perception of this bizarre event to publish on the blog.

Have at it my old bowler friend.

Other Rocky Bowlers are also free to chime in ...
